SD Officers in Dirlewanger

#1

Post by wolfguy » 20 Mar 2020, 04:16

Hi Everyone

Does anyone know what assignment SS-Untersturmfuhrer Heinrich Ammann had prior to being assigned to the Dirlewanger unit and whether or not he ever left the Dirlewanger unit and if so what was his posting?

SS-Hauptsturmfuhrer Josef Grohmann- Anyone know if and when he left the Dirlewanger unit after being assigned to it for the second time in June 1944?

SS-Hauptsturmfuhrer Georg-Wilhelm Eggers: Joined Dirlewanger on August 2, 1944. Did he survive the Warsaw Uprising?

Thanks

Ammann with KdS Minsk from at least Feb 1943 and Kommandoführer in various anti-partisan operations organized by the KdS; he was occasionally with Dirlewanger units.

Eggers survived to being interrogated at Bremen Interrogation Centre on 21 Aug 1945; unfortunately no interrog report to be found - at least in British archives. Maybe at NARA - the Brits shared.

Grohmann with/from/back to (whichever) SD-LA Breslau.
(SS-disciplinary case – undated – about discharging his pistol when drunk; sentenced to 3 months imprisonment for misuse of his weapon; the sentence has still not been confirmed. 22 July 1944, RFSS orders Eggers “sofort als Schütze zum Sonderregiment Dirlewanger in Marsch gesetzt”. his SSO)

Hi Steve

Thanks for the response. I was a little confused by your post because you were talking about Eggers, then Grohmann, then Eggers again.
Please confirm that it was Eggers who survived the war and was interrogated in Bremen rather than Grohmann.

So we don't have a record of what happened to Grohmann? (Whether or not he survived the war)

Thanks,
Wolfguy

Sorry, pasted the entry about Eggers in the wrong place...
No other info on Grohmann

Eggers was assigned to Dirlewanger on August 2, 1944. Amazing that he survived the Warsaw Uprising when the casualty rate of the Dirlewanger unit was said to be as high as 300%. And then survives the war too. He would have had some stories to tell.
