SS-Obersturmbannführer Dr. Werner Zwingelberg

Good day

I recently came into the possession of the NSDAP Membership Book for SS-Obersturmbannführer Dr. Werner Zwingelberg.

I'm trying to find a picture of him in uniform but can't find one anywhere. Any ideas?

He was Oberschulrat (his job on the membership book) and Generalleutnant der Polizei, and at the same time SS-Obersturmbannführer so there must be pictures of him but I can't find any. I have just learned that his last rank was SS-Ostubaf.

He was awarded - SS Ring, SS Sword, Iron Cross 2nd Class, War Service Cross 2nd Class with Swords (KVK2)

The info is not completely correct: He wasn't "Generalleutnant" der Polizei, but "Oberstleutnant" der Schutzpolizei im Hauptamt Ordnungspolizei. "Obersturmbannführer" is the equivalent ("Angleichungsdienstgrad") of "Polizei-Oberschulrat", which was given automatically.

The uniform in the first picture is a police uniform. Picture was taken in 1940.

Some more information has been found.
1.11.44 – Appointed Oberstleutnant der Schutzpolizei im Hauptamt Ordnungspolizei
EKII and KVKII m/S awarded in combat with the Waffen SS. This is noted in DAL (Dienstalterliste) as an OSF d. R. (Obersturmführer der Reserve in the Waffen SS). His rise in rank in the A-SS was rapid, from Obersturmführer (OBF)in 11.9.38 DAL to Obersturmbahnführer (OSBF ) in 1.7.39. I'm now trying to find out his unit in the WSS and when.

In a footnote of "Die weltanschauliche Schulung der Polizei im Nationalsozialismus" by Hans-Christian Harten, noted above, it is noted "Geschäftsverteilungsplan HA Orpo vom 1.5.1939, mit Zusätzenvom 2.1.1940, S.137: NA Prag, URP 301-211. Gleichzeitig die Zuständigkeit de Abteilung A4 unter Zwingelberg für die weltanschauliche Schulung auf die bloße "Mitbeteiltgung bei den Angelegenheiten der WE"

Translated roughly as "Business distribution plan HA Orpo from 1.5.1939, with additions from 2.1.1940, p.137: NA Prague, URP 301-211. At the same time the responsibility of Abteilung A4 under Zwingelberg for the ideological training on the "participation in the affairs of the WE" I don't know what WE stands for.

I have not been able to find out if he is mentioned in the main body of the book. Perhaps someone who has a copy could look.

The tasks of the Abteilung "A4 Vocational School" included organizing the "ideological training in connection with the SS-Head Office – Main Race and Settlement Office respectively.
