Hi,

Theo Croneiß is born in Schweinfurt the 28th December 1894. During WWI he volunteered and fought in Turkey, Then he joined the new born Air Force. He met there future nazi stars like Robert Ley and Rudolf Heß.
After WWI he founded a flight school in Furth and worked with Messeschmidt in Augsburg and Regensburg. He was a famous pilot and tested planes for him. He married and had 2 children : Gernot (23 Oct 1917) and Helgi (4 feb 1921).
Despite not being member of the party, he was sympathetic to it. He and all his employees were member of the NSFK (Nationalsozialistischen Fliegerkorps). Once the nazis came into power, in march 1933, he became member of the party and joined the SA where he was personal adjudant of Ernst Röhm concerning Flight things (Sonderkommissar für Luftfahrtfragen). I don't know when exactly, I guess it was consecutive to Röhm's death, he dismissed and became chief advisor of BFW-Messerschmidt in Augsburg (Aufsichtsratsvorsitz der Bayerischen Flugzeugwerke in Augsburg spätere Messerschmitt AG). In 1937 he became SA BF and joined the SS in 1938.
Look there : https://www.staatliche-bibliothek-regen ... oneiss.pdf

He died in Munich the 7 November of 1942.

I wonder why did he die ? He was not even 50 years old. And I can't find anything about the reasons of his death.

Does anyone have a clue ?
He seemed to have been big and fat. Maybe heart attack ?

Thanks.

All I can find is that he died from an embolism a few days after being discharged from a clinic.

Thank you very much.

His son Gernot was serving in Stalingrad by the time of his death in November 42 ! Did he survive the battle ? Did he return in the Stalingrad Kessel ?
He learnt the death of his father only the 11th November. He made a 9 days trip back home. So he was in Germany the 20th November. The day after the beginning of the counter-attack of the Red Army around Stalingrad !

Did he come back in the city ? did he survive ?

Thank you.
He died late. He should have many things to tell... too bad if he didn't write it.

In his SSO there seem to be a great photo of him in SS-Brif. uniform, but the one who did the photos of the SS-files did a very lousy job, less than half of him in visuable. :(

Best regards
