KL Dachau crematorium
Can anyone help with the identity of the head of the crematorium staff at Dachau Concentration Camp in 1943 please? Or the names of any SS personnel who worked in 'Barrack X'? The prisoner work details were supervised by SS men.
Thanks,
Max.
Thanks,
Max.

Max,
Hope to help you a little bit, only av. in the polish and german Wiki...
Hans
Btw, google search was: "dachau krematorium leiter".
I found the name earlier, with another search about Georg Elser, and his final fate, did not store the link.
Link from the Wiki article, with a photo of Bongartz http://haasis-wortgeburten.anares.org/e ... rag_24.php
Theodor Bongartz https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theodor_BongartzTheodor Heinrich Bongartz (* December 25, 1902 in Krefeld; † May 15, 1945 in Böckingen) was a German SS-Oberscharführer and, as head of the crematorium at Dachau concentration camp, was responsible for the murder of numerous prisoners, including Georg Elser.

Re: Dachau Crematorium
Thanks. I was aware of Bongartz's role in 1945, but was he the Krematorium Leiter in 1943?
Also, can anyone identify this signature please, signed on behalf of the Krem. Leiter?

The name appears to end in ______varter.
Re: KL Dachau crematorium
When I first saw it I thought it might be something along the lines of Honenwarter.

Max,
no idea so far, about the name, but "I.V." was for "In Vertretung", thus a substitute for the actual signatory at the time.

Hans,
Thank you, but that’s not quite right. ‘The actual signatory’ is the person who actually signs. The term ‘i.V.’ is used to signify someone signing on behalf of another. In this case, the actual signatory is signing on behalf of Der Leiter des Krematoriums.
Regards,
Max.

Any of you camp experts recognise this name, or something similar please?
