SS-Ustuf. Otto Quirin

Otto Quirin was a Uniformtraeger and his SSO does not give a date/place of birth.

On 21 Aug. 1943, reported at BdS Paris, Abt IV A1b (Kommunismus) and Berichterstatter.

April 1944, reported Leiter Aussenkommando Montlucon (KdS Vichy).

It could be that Quirin was in the GFP in France when that organization was absorbed into the Sipo in France during Nov 1942. This is speculation on my part to justify the lack of a DOB/POB.

Any additional information greatly appreciated.

Peter,

Wonderful stuff.
Possibly born 1890-1895 in Leipzig-Gohlis (northern suburb).
From the Schupo into the Kripo in 1930.
Still speculation whether he was GFP or an elderly Kripo man in Paris and Vichy.
(Elderly at 50 or so)

His rank interested me Steve, Kriminalhauptwachtmeister, I hadn't seen that one before, possibly unique to Saxony ?

Possibly it means that in the 1930 phone book listing he was on probation (a.Pr./z.Pr.) from the Schupo with the Kripo and retaining his police rank for the moment.

I have been searching now and have identified in 1929 a retired Berlin Kripo detective with the rank Krim.Ob.Wachtmstr.a.D. so I'm wondering if these were legacy Prussian Kripo ranks from pre-Weimar ? pre Krim-Ang., and Krim-Asst, etc
