need help with SS

#1

Post by kim vachon » 03 Jun 2002, 17:42

I need help finding info on a person in the SS polizei calvary. Gustal Kunas was my uncle and the family would like some info on him. He was born in Lithuania and his sister remembers that after he was taken to the army he came home on leave once and at that time he was wearing a blue uniform. We also know that he and some more men of his unit were left behind in Poland guarding against partisans. It was at this time he was captured by the Russian forces. Any help would be great, his sister and brother would really like to know what happened to him. Thank you.

Is "Gustal" a diminutive form of "Gustav"? Also, do you have information about his date of birth, place and so forth. I am sure that would help someone to narrow him down in records.

In that case the Gustav Kunal listed at the Volksbund is either a different man or a spelling error. Still I suggest you contact them for more info as they are the prime source (and in most cases only source) for this kind of info, together with the German Red Cross and the WASt.
