Excellent photo! Thanks.

Being a complete idiot as far as Waffen-SS uniforms & ranks are concerned, I will have to guess which person Tzschoppe is. Front row third from the left is Demelhuber for sure. So Tzschoppe perhaps fourth from the left?

Cheers,

Hans

Great Picture Philmil,

Yerger gives 09.11.1942 as promotion date to SS-Staf?.

Do you have any information that he might have been CO. of the
29.Waffen-Gr.Div. der SS(04.1945) Some sources say Constantin Heldmann was CO till the end of the War(15.02.1945-08.05.1945) but Mehner gives Tzschoppe as the last CO.

Thanks in advance

HM.

I would suggest that it is unlikely as all evidence shows he remained in Holland until the surrender. It is not impossible considering the chaotic situation at the end but I would like to see evidence.

Hallo HM,

Tzschoppe was surely not in the 29. SS!

This could be a confusion with SS-Oberführer Erich Tschimpke:

20.04.1944 - 30.04.1945 kommandiert zum Stab Höchster SS- und Polizeiführer Italien als SS-Führer z.b.V. zur Verwendung im Rahmen der "Milizia armata" ("Inspekteur der Abteilung Presse und Propaganda der italienischen SS).

Hope I could help you

best regards

Oberstab
