SS-Obersturmbannführer Franz Hack

Post by William Kramer » 14 Nov 2003 20:46

Sirs,

Hello and welcome to my new post. The toppic of today's session will be Obersturmbannfuhrer Franz Hack, and perhaps "called" Fritz. Do any of you have any information about him or the 5th SS Wiking division in general? Also, do any of you have any photos of him (other than the ones posted below) Please let me know either way. Thank you.

William Kramer

A great book with the preface and foreward written by Hack - Panzergrenadiere, der Panzerdivision 'Wiking' im Bild

Post by William Kramer » 14 Nov 2003 20:55

Here is the set of tunic removed collar tabs that I just got from Christopher Jenkins. This man also owns Hack's cased KC and his cased OL. Wow.

Franz Hack

Post by John P. Moore » 14 Nov 2003 21:04

Franz Hack did not write "Panzergrenadier", Fritz Hahl did. Franz Hack wrote the English translations and was among those providing information upon which the original German text was based. For those who can read German, a detailed description of Hack´s military career as well as the actions that resulted in him being aearded the DKiG and Ritterkreuz (17 original documents) can be found in Part 2 of "Führerliste der Waffen-SS"

Hi, I can give you information about the "Führerliste", if you are interested by a good and reliable Waffen-SS-Officers database , you should like it, and won't regret this purchase.
I have the complete set in CD which contains a database of 26.000 Waffen-SS Officers in alphabetical order with additional documents for some of them, like theirs personal file scaned.
In the majority cases, this list provides complete identity , dates and places of bith/death, SS-number, previous military service and so more....
here is the good way to contact the author John Moore :

I can only warmly support Jerome's statement on the on-of-a-kind Führerliste which is a must-have for the serious researcher/collector. This well researched work is the THE source on the SS with any comparisson. The price does not weigh up to the 20 years of research and effort which is put into the CD set and will easily pay itself back.

Contacting John is very much worth your while!

Hello again,

The photo from eBay.com; it is AWESOME. Thanks.

Bill

I do not have any more photos of the other men on my computer at the moment, as they do not interest me as much. If you are looking for some, definately check out Panzergrenadiere, der Panzerdivision 'Wiking' im Bild by Fritz Hall and forward by Franz Hack.

Fabulous photos, Bill, especially the ones with Dorr. Thanks for sharing them :) .

Bake, I think the officer in the black panzer uniform on your photo is Stubaf. Kümmel - Wiking's SPW battalion commander. Nice picture.
