Hi Andreas
I have a question. SS und Polizeikommandeurs were formed mit wirkung 27.10.1944 to operate under HSSPF Adriatisches Kurstenland to cover Provinzen
Quarnero Wilhelm Traub
Istrien Erasmus Freiherr von Malsen-Ponickau
Triest Wilhelm Michalsen
Görz Karl Taus
Friaul Ludolf von Alvensleben
Were all apppointed SSPF in 1945. Can you confirm that my list is correct ?
Phil

y're right

Ludof Jakob von Alvensleben was the nephew (neffe) of Ludolf von Alvensleben

(Der Volksdeusche Selbstschutz in Polen 1940 Jansen/Weckbecker)

the wrong info came from a 1971 serie or articles "Bubi est mort dans son lit" dealing with the life of Ludof von Alvensleben.
I saw on web mention of a documentary based upon these serie of articles presented to Berlin some years ago.

Hi Phil,

I don´t know. Taus was 01.05.1944 - 00.05.1945 SS- und Polizeigebietskommandeur Görz.

SS- und Polizeikommandeure in the OZAK

#20

Post by Stefano » 24 Nov 2003, 13:02

SS- und Polizeikommandeure in the Italian provinces belonging to Operationszone Adriatisches Kuestenland (OZAK) existed at least from November 1943, initially not in all provinces; at first they were called Standortführer der SS und Polizei, later Beauftragte des HSSPF, from 25 April 1944 they took the final title of SS- und Polizeikommandeure. As far as I know they were:

- Trieste: SS-Brigadeführer Erasmus von Malsen-Ponickau (January - October 1944), later l’SS-Sturmbannführer Georg Michalsen;
- Gorizia: SS-Sturmbannführer Karl Tauss (from May 1944, before him unknown) (not sure if it’s Tauss or Taus);
- Udine (official name: SS- und Polizeikommandeur für die Provinz Friaul): from 8 November 1943 SS-Oberführer Hans von Feil (at least until May 1944), then SS-Sturmbannführer Ludolf Jakob von Alvensleben
- Fiume (today Rijeka): SS-Sturmbannführer Ernst Lerch (provisionally), then SS-Obersturmbannführer Wilhelm Traub;
- Pola (today Pula) (official name: SS- und Polizeikdr. für die Provinz Istrien): SS-Standartenführer Ernst Hildebrand, later SS-Sturmbannführer Georg Michalsen (provisionally, at least in July - August 1944), SS-Standartenführer Franz Sido and finally from October 1944 von Malsen-Ponickau.

Can anyone add to the list ?
Stefano

Hi,
Ludolf Jacob von Alvensleben in 20's was a dealer of Ford Cars in Free City of Danzig...
I've found small paper with (probably) his autograph

It is not v. Alvensleben. He had never been in Soviet captivity.
