PARTY AND SS NUMBERS

#1

Post by c.g. » 27 Nov 2003, 19:44

I am wondering if there is a way to see by the SS and NSDAP number of a person the period he entered in those organisation. Does anyone have a lue?
I mean like being able to detect from the membership numbers if the person became a Mitglied in the 1920es, before 1933, from 1933 to 1939, from 1939 on.
Thanks for any help

I have seen several suggestions on the correlation between numbers and dates and they do work.

I think that this is a subject which needs to be explored, we need some way that we can all contribute numbers and dates that we know to be accurate from BDC files etc

Somehow I was hoping someone got it already worked out, maybe in book. Yours is a very good idea indeed.
Thanks

I am not sure about SS numbers but I have read somewhere that Party numbers cannot be used to establish joining date because in the late 1920's newcomers where given numbers over 1,000 to cover up the lack of members.

SS Numbers

Some years ago Bernie Brulé in Canada published "The Key". It lists over 19,000 SS Numbers and identifies the name of the person belonging to a number. This publication has been very useful to collectors who have some relic such as a dagger where only the recipient`s name is stamped on it. More information can be found here:

Hi,

There seems to be correlation between SS-Numbers and the date they joined. According to Robert Koehl/The Black Corps numbers 2-1299 indicate a membership before 1929. Members with SS-Numbers 1300-2000 became member in 1929.

As of know I'm working on a list of the first 1299 members(put together out of the several DAL) including the official entry dates I know. I will post it soon, perhaps we can complete it on this forum.

Thanks.

HM.

As can be seen from this dates there is a correlation between the SS-Number awarded and the official entry date.

Gentlemen
this is facinating - I believe that we have the opportunity here to work out some sort of a de-coder for enlistment dates (within a bit anyway).

I'll dig out some known SS numbers/enlistment dates and maybe if we all add some we can produce something very useful here.

Phil - I'm going to have to research some of those names and see what became of them.

cheers
Pete
