Greetings from the Netherlands.

I would like to know who started the HIAG and if it still exists.
Thank you very much.

Kind regards,
Willem

The HIAG was set up in Bonn in 1951 by SS-HaupsturmFührer Mathieu Klein and are mutual aid society for ex-Waffen SS soldiers which publishes it's own magazine "Der Frewillige". It's publishers are Munin-Verlag which have also published several titles on the Waffen SS and Wehrmacht during WWII. They were also the people to contact in regard to research on ex-Waffen SS soldiers but unfortunately Munin-Verlag are no longer in business.

I'm assuming copies of Der Freiwillige no longer exist/are available?

You often see copies on sale on eBay.com and you may find that the publisher has back copies.
