Here are some more SS men who served in Buchanwald.

Werner Berger
Horst Dittrich
Victor Hantscharenko
Otto Hoppe
Georg Konig
Franz Zinecker

They were all convicted of crimes and sentenced to life imprisonment.
If anyone has their dates of birth I would be most grateful.

Hi dylan,

Where have you been?

Are you uncertain of the full date, but the year is correct or is the year uncertain?

David Thompson wrote:Here's some that you have, with some additional details, and others which you don't have. I hope it's helpful.
Voelkner (Völkner), Karl-Wilhelm (1898-?) [SS-Obersturmfuehrer] -- service, concentration camp (Konzentrationslager - KL) Buchenwald 1940-1944; service, KL Flossenbuerg (Flossenbürg) 1944; guards commander, KL Buchenwald 1945 {arrested by American troops 20 May 1945 (NYT 21 May 1945:8:6); subsequent disposition unknown.}
More on Völkner:

He was born 26 febr. 1898 in Quedlinburg, he was a pilot during the WW I (9.1914 - 1.1919), he got several awards in this service. In 1930 he entered the org. "Stahlhelm". He entered the NSDAP and the SS in september1932. He got promoted to SS-Ustuf 20.4.1934, In August 1939 he was once more attached to the Luftwaffe, but that didn´t lst for long and in December the same year he was transfered to the SS-T.V., there he was attached to the SS-T.-Strmb. KL Buchenwald. On 30 Janu. 1943 he was promoted to SS-Ostuf, short before (winter 1942) that he had had become leader of the Baubrigade III. This command did he held until June 1944, he was then transfered to the KL Flossenburg, and there as Kommandofhr. of the AL Leitmeritz, this command did he held to Nov. 1944, his whereabout between Nov 1944 to 15.5.1945 is unknown. He entered the lager Staumühle as POW on that date in may 1945. After the war Völkner was tried by the court in Köln because of told crimes comitted as leader of the Baubrigade III. During the trial several former inmates gave witnesses that told the court that Völkner was very keen about his inmates, he forbade SS-men to beat or punish the inmates, he also gave premission that they could play fotball on the weekends, even Völkner participated some times. Because of that Völkner become a Spitzname from the Inmates, which was "Vater" or "der Alte". Some inmates tried to give another view of Völkner, but in 1975 the trial against Völkner was cancelled.

DoD is unfortunately unknown.

Photo of him in the book: Krieg, Gesellschaft und KZ: Himmlers SS-Baubrigaden written by Karola Fings.
The info above is also from that book.
