According to a book I have just read is claiming that SS-Ostubaf Adolf Eichmann was awarded with the EK II as well.
I think it was in year 1942. The book was written by David C and the title is "Adolf Eichmann"

Hi Georg
I think he is getting confused Adolf Eichmann had the War Service Cross 2 nd Class with Swords but not the Iron Cross. There is Ingo Eichmann born 22.4.01 Party Nr 3093348 SS Nr 310196 Sbf 7.10.38 Major der Schupo who was awarded the IK 2 Data from the Dienstaltersliste 1.Oct 1944

Hello Phil,

I was myself very confused by this new info. But the story around how and why he recieved the EK II sounded very realibely.
According to the author did Eichmann get a command to save some Volksdeutsche who was threatned by the advance of the Soviet army, and he was ordered to relieve them, and because of that he was awarded the EK II.

I will later tonight look it up, because he has done a marvelous job, and all info has a note with a mark where he have found the info.

//Best reg.

Hello Georg,

Cesarani indicates two sources to this information and both come from Eichmann himself:

1. Statement made by Adolf Eichmann to the Israel Police prior to his trial in Jerusalem (Interrogation of Adolf Eichmann by Avner Less).
2. Ich, Adolf Eichmann. Ein historischer Zeugenbericht ed. Dr. Rudolf Aschenauer.

Soooo, I'm not sure if we are smarter now... :) But even if it's true or not, it was in 1944 not in 1942, because at this time he was in Hungary bored and hanging around in Budapest and our beautiful lake, so called the "Balaton".
By the way, the story seems believable to me, first of all because he had not much to do at that time and second, all the Waffen-SS units were kind of busy with the Soviet Army and the front... So I can immagine that he received a command like this.

Blimey, I've seen some doubles in my time, but Novak could be the daddy of actor Willem Defoe. If they ever need anyone to play him on screen............
Max.
