Erwin Rösener? Don't think so!
This is a photo which appeared in a 1936 edition of Das Schwarz Korps. I have an original caption note which identifies the SS-Obf. as Rösener, but I am sure it's not him. Problem is, I'm not sure who he is!

Rösener
I do not agree with you MH, PS.
If the rank is correct he could well be Rösener. The quality of this pic is not that good, but if you compare this man with the photo's in Yerger's book......

It certainly looks like him and why would they issue a wrong identification.

Sorry, Phil, but I think you couldn't be more wrong. Look at the difference in profile. Rösener's chin protrudes whereas the SS-Obf.'s does not. The Obf. also looks much older. As for the caption....it is quite common for contemporary captions to be incorrect. It's human error!philmil wrote:I do not agree it is RosenerMax History wrote:This is a photo which appeared in a 1936 edition of Das Schwarz Korps. Hello Max,
Firstly I didn't want to give my opinion because it's Rösener for me, but Your last post induced me to speak..
And VERY similiar eyebrow....
Remember "DSK' was newspaper with not best quality pics....
So, I agree with Philmil - without doubts it's Rösener....
Regards

I think this is one we'll never get to the bottom of unless someone has an original copy of the DSK photo. I can't say I agree with you, but that's the point of putting this sort of photo on the forum isn't it? Thanks for everyone's contributions, as always.

Re: Erwin Rösener? Don't think so!
Yes, I have another photo of Erwin Rösener with that same side of the face in question. Infact when I first saw this photo I didn't think it was Rösener, because he looks different from that side of the face....... but it is Rösener, when he was standing with two other men at his trial. I have a copy of this photo, but I can't get it to copy on Axis. It is a small photo. I copy photos from Axis to my photo album, but I can't copy them on Axis. Why?? What am I doing wrong?
