Re: What happend to 'Bobby' Woll?
Really old post I know and hope does not break any rules but I am commenting on this.
"if I do recall well , was the only Unteroffizier decorated with a RK. "
The real fact is Woll was the only NCO tank gunner to receive the Knights Cross. Of course many enlisted, NCO and officers of all branches of the Wehrmacht and SS of the Nazi Regime were awarded the KC. Heer members being the highest recipients.
Im a 40+yr shooter/gun collector I work in Fed Le as a helicopter pilot. So my hobbies are flying, guns and wwII collecting mainly German , Japanese and Russian. I own 2 Knight's crosses 1 with Oaks their my most prized ww2 items tho I'm not an online type of guy haha just check my join date and post count and don't like showing off etc. Btw a little trivia Isoroku Yamamoto was an honorary recipient of this award. Tho I know its probably posted here somewhere for years already but what the heck. Man haven't been here in years. Good to see its still going strong. Stumbled on an old book mark hence why I got here.
Take care stay safe everyone and will try and visit more but like I said hardly online as too busy.

Some pics of our new purchases, new toys and other hobbies etc. It's mostly to share with friends and family and for business hence multiple pics of gun problems etc. .

I believe Fritz Eckstein also won the Knights Cross as an NCO tank gunner.

Re: SS-Unterscharführer Balthasar "Bobby" Woll
The photo was supposed to be taken in May, 1944 in northern France. By the time SS-Obersturmführer Michael Wittmann was Kompaniechef of 2./s.SS-Pz.Abt. 101. SS-Unterscharführer Balthasar "Bobby" Woll was a tank commander of Tiger 212. He could be distinguished by the Ritterkreuz.
On the driver’s seat beside Woll was SS-Hauptscharführer Hans Höflinger, who was a tank commander of Tiger 213, and a Kamerad of Woll in the 1. Zug. Posed on the driver’s seat does not necessarily mean he’s a driver.

Balthasar WOLL died in 1996 as per the report of Wiesenthal report given under: Glorifying the Waffen SS and Nazi war criminals
Wiesenthal.com.
There are photos and details about few Waffen-SS personnel including WOLL and August Zingel & Anton Ameiser

Re: SS-Unterscharführer Balthasar "Bobby" Woll
So much inaccurate information and conjecture.
That is not Hans Hoflinger! It is Woll and Jupp Sälzer who was Woll's tank driver in Tiger "212". The images were all taken on 1 May 1944 including the famous images of Wittmann. Most also don't know it was not Wittmann's Tiger Wittmann was photographed sitting on that day. It was Karl-Heinz Warmbrunn's Tiger "214". I have the full sequence.
Images are mine from my bookplates.
Woll and Jupp Sälzer
And since he was posted, SS-Hauptsturmführer Hans Höflinger, commander of Tiger "213". You might notice a difference in rank in the shoulder boards alone between Sälzer and Höflinger not to mention awards.
