Remember this?...................
ehlerner wrote: Included is a startling picture of a very much alive Odilo and his mother, Anna Globocnik. Both appear proud and happy in response to a commendation he received from Hitler via Himmler, re. outstanding work in killing millions of people.

More to follow.

Erwin
We don't seem to have heard from ehlerner since he posted this photo of "Globocnik with his mother Anna." A friend has been corresponding with the man in the photo. He is very much alive and is a collector living in Austria. I believe he was the Austrian "historian" with whom ehlerner was in contact. He has sent my friend photographs of his Globocnik items, including the document in the photo. Unfortunately, I would have no interest whatsoever in any of his items were he to offer them for sale or for use in a historical study of Globocnik. The woman in the photo, I am told, is allegedly the daughter of SS-O'Gruf. Walter Krüger.

Hello,

I do remember well that "joke", it made me laugh to tears for days...
Wasn't the document shown in the picture from the huge Globocnik group sold by Relics of the Reich 3\4 years ago?

Best Regards

I have no idea. Pray tell me more of this group.
The document in the photo is allegedly Globocnik's posting to HSSPF Adriatic Coast and is also allegedly signed by Himmler in 1943.

Max.

Prior to his reported "suicide by cop" a couple of years back now a US based militaria dealer had a number of Globocnik documents, I dont know off-hand if this was one of them Max but I do have scans of a number of them which he sent to me inc. a Vorschlag for the DK/Silber, a DK/S award document, a Himmler letter to Globus, a Hitler letter to him ref appointment in Lublin, etc.

I cant post them here as I dont know the copyright situation but if you want to PM me I'll help if I can.

The dealer had been sold a "Globocnik" Allg-SS tunic & cap which I believe his widow was later advised was not 100% although I dont think I had any info on these.

Globocnik's final rank was Gruppenführer. But why do several writers, eg. Klee, Wistrich and Poprzeczny, give his final rank as Obergruppenführer? Why this confusion?
Best regards,

Or in some cases, a lack of thorough research.

Hello Mike,

after thorough research

I found one Photo from Triest (Parade on 20.4.1944).

Does it fit the Decorations for Walter Bestmann ? I am not Decorations specialist.

I suppose, that allready Phill solved the mistery: http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 3&start=15

Thanks for sharing Transpspeer. Always good to see a new photo of this man.

Any idea please who is SS-Standartenführer next to Globocnik?

Possibly Walter Bestmann (who, if memory serves, commanded the SS-Junkerschule Klagenfurt later in the war- I've seen him in another photo with Globus, taken in Trieste along with Gauleiter Dr. Rainer and other SS, Party, and Wehrmacht representatives).

Best,
~ Mike

Wonderful photo, Darko!

Yes, that is Bestmann, as Kdr. of SS-Junkerschule Klagenfurt.

Best wishes,
