SS-Oberführer Hans Loritz

#1

Post by Georg_S » 04 May 2004, 08:44

Hello,

I wonder if someone can provide me some info over SS-Oberführer Hans Loritz?
He started his career in the KL Dachau as Komm. over Wachsturmbanne Dachau, but does anyone know his rank at that time?
And possibly how long he held this command?

Best regards,

Georg

Ps. I attach a photo of Loritz from his SS-file.

Georg,
That's not Loritz. It's Piorkowski.

Georg,
100% sure. I have the same picture of Piorkowski from his SS file at the BDC. Here is Loritz.

Georg,
I was at the BDC when the female representative from the GKL Dachau was going through the SS files about 4/5 years ago. I had lunch with her! She had so many files, she could have got them confused. In my experience, you are wasting your time writing to them. They probably won't change it.
As an aside, I also went through Loritz's SS files. There was no photo like the one you've posted in his files. There was a beauty with his wife, but copying was not allowed as his wife was in the photo also. Take a look in French MacLean's "The Camp Men". He identifies your Loritz as Piorkowski also.
Regards,
Max

That's the one Phil, but the one in the original file was much better quality. Your one looks like a microfilm printed copy, such as is available from NARA.

Mein Gott, yes- PLEASE write them as soon as humanly possible! I'm aghast that the people who run the Dachau Memorial- of ALL people!- can't properly identify the KOMMANDANTS of the camp!

Arrgghhh!!!! Where are my pills!?

Hello again,

Thanks Phil for the info that was what I was looking for.

To Michael, I have to agree with Max, I know it´s hard to get Institutes of any kind to change something they have
made wrong, But I will atleast write to them and tell them, and if they then correct or not, it´s up to them.

That reminds me of GKL Sachsenhausen, accoring to what I have heard have a photo of High NS Officials in the entrance of the Museum, but they are claiming it to be A Hitler on the photo. But anyone who is interessted in this knows it´s not Hitler, what I know he never visited a KZ, but I can be wrong.

Best reg.

Georg

Hi everybody, just to inform those of you who can read German that a good book on Hans Loritz has just come out:

Dirk Riedel: Ordnungshüter und Massenmörder im Dienst der "Volksgemeinschaft": Der KZ-Kommandant Hans Loritz.

Ca. 420 pages, ca. 25 Euros.

I have not quite finished it, but can already say that it is an excellent piece of research.

Best
Tilman

PS: the above photo of Loritz and wife is also in there in good quality.

Hi all,

just to inform you. I have been to Dachau Memorial and they give the correct name with the Piorkowski picture. But a private website, scrapbookpages, shows the wrong name (http://www.scrapbookpages.com/Dachauscr ... Loritz.jpg)
