Hello,

Still looking for some more info on alot of different SS-officers. Hope somebody can help me with the following names, if possible date of birth, short bio from their career(before and during WW II), what they did after the war and their date of death.

Obersturmführer Rudolf Albanbauer: Former head of department III-D with the KdS in Warschau.
Obersturmführer Dr. André Albeck.
Hauptsturmführer Walter Albers: Worked for the Sipo in Amsterdam.
SS-officer Wilhelm Albert: Former chief Amt I from RSHA.
Hauptsturmführer A. Wilhelm Albrecht: Former SD-member in Gent and later in Leeuwarden.
Obersturmbannführer Gulam Alimow: In 1944 commander from Ostmuselmanisches SS-Rgt. 1.
Sturmbannführer Augusts Alksnitis.
SS-officer Hans Almeier(or Almeyer): Former subcommander at Auschwitz. Executed in 1948 at Krakow.
Untersturmführer Rolf d'Alquen: Worked at SS-Hauptamt and later at 'Das Schwarze Korps' zeitung.
SS-officer Erich Altern: Former SD-chief in Galicië and Gestapo-employee.
Hauptsturmführer Hans Altfuldisch: Served at Mauthausen, hanged in 1947.
Oberführer Josef Altstoeter: Ministerial direktor at Reichsministerium für Justiz.
Hauptsturmführer Franz Ambros: Former Sipi-officer and member of SS-Sonderkommando 'Dirlewanger'.
Obersturmführer Heinrich Andersen: Officer at Panzerdivision 'Hitlerjugend'. I only have his date of birth, his rank in 1944 and his date of death.
Sturmbannführer Karl d'Angelo: Former Lagerleiter at KL Osthofen, only have some info from SS-DAL/1934.

Did Ludolf von Alvensleben had a brother also called Ludolf von Alvensleben, born in 1899, Standartenführer and SSPF at Friaul???

Mikedc,
Have you used the search facility? You will find a lot of information on some of these has already been posted, especially the von Alvenslebens.

Hello Max,

Yes, I did use Google for my search but on most of these men I couldn't find the things I was looking for.
About the Von Alvenslebens you're right, they're mentioned on the Google-searchmachine. But I was not able to find much about this one born in 1899. And when I search through Google I only use their rank(if I know that)or their name(If I don't know their rank).

So if you could help me any further here, that would be really appreciated. And especially about this brother, about the other Von Alvensleben I already have the info I need.

Greetings,
Mikedc

He is referring to the search function here in the forum, you'll find the "Search" link above.

Hello Marcus,

Thank you very much for this remark, how could I be so stupid??!! But I'm new at this forum and I really overlooked this one. And I never went to any forum so I really don't know how it's all working. But I did a little bit of research already and I did find some interesting info already.

So thanks again for telling me about it, Max and Marcus.

Please note Augusts Alksnitis was Latvian and was not a fullmember of the SS his rank would have been Waffen Sturmbannführer not SS Sturmbannführer . See many previous posts on this subject.

Hello Philmil,

Thanks for the info, know what you mean. Didn't they also use the following ranks in Waffen-SS(just an example): Sturmbannführer der Reserve or Hauptsturmführer der Reserve???

So I did a search on this person but to be honest, didn't find that much on him. Just some rank-info, date of birth if I'm correct and so, but no real info about his career before and during WW II and what happened to him after the war.
But it may be my fault as well, I'm still new here and don't know how it all works, maybe I'm looking in the wrong direction. But with the searchbutton I only did find some info about him in SS & Polizei.

Still, all I get from you and other people is much appreciated.

Thanks,
Mikedc
:) :)

Hi Mikedc!

Sturmbannführer der Waffen-SS Augusts Valdemars Alksnitis - born 8 Nov 1902 in Riga, died of cancer on 22 Feb 1960 in London, England.

Pre-war served in the Latvian Army as an officer in the 8. Daugavpils Inf. Reg., later as a Captain in the Armoured Reg.

In WWII commanded batallions in the 32. and 33. W-SS Gren Reg., temporarily commanded the 33. W-SS Gren. Reg. in Staf. Vilis Janums absence.

Surrendered to the British at the end of the war, was a POW in Zedelgem, Belgium and moved to the UK in 1947. Was head of the UK branch of the Latvian Welfare Organisation and Vice-Chairman of the Central Committee of the world-wide Latvian Welfare Organisation.

A good friend and colleague of my late father.

Regards,

VJK

Hello VJK,

Thanks alot for this info, this is more than sufficient to complete my story on this man.
And maybe a rude question, but did your father also serve in the Waffen-SS??? If so, could you give me some info on him as well???

Greetings,
Mikedc

I was recently doing some research work for a relative of SS-Standartenführer Karl d'Angelo. A May 1936 letter from Eicke to Himmler while d'Angelo was at Dachau said, "SS-Standartenführer d'Angelo ist als Schutzhaftlageführer nicht nur butterweich, sondern auch völlig ohne Interesse für diesen Dienstzweg." Butterweich means soft as butter, a rather unusual charachterization of a senior SS officer. Here is a better photo of d'Angelo.
