There are probably two Wilhelm Traub's - these are details I have on one of them:

Dec 1940 - SS-Hstuf Traub of SD-Abschnitt Koblenz was called to attend the SS-Führerlehrgang at SIPO-Führerschule Berlin-Charl., as examiner ("Beurteiler")
BBL 30/40

21 June 1943 - Wilhelm Traub - SS No. 290239 - promoted SS-Ostubaf, employed in the area of IdS Wiesbaden
BBL 52/43

Jan 1944 - transfer of SS-Ostuf (sic) Wilhelm Traub to RSHA I "unter Aufrechterhaltung seiner Abordnung [not mentioned]"
BBL 1/44
rank corrected to SS-Ostubaf in BBL 3/44

The same Wilhelm Traub in DAL 1 October 1944 (No. 822).

Thanks Pete for the given information, i will check if they have still got it !!

Steve could you tell me where your information came from ?? and what's the meaning of for example "BBL 30/40" (i think 40 is for the year ??).

Is there perhaps somebody who has a picture from this man !!!!

Thanks in advance,

Mulisch

BBL = Befehlsblatt des Chefs der Sich,Pol und des SD, a weekly newsletter issued by RSHA Amtschef I giving information on new instructions, decrees and personnel postings, transfers and promotions.

As you rightly surmised, BBL 30/40 is issue 30 of 1940. The newsletters are dated but my homemade index by name only carries the BBL No.

Hard copies are available at the Bundesarchiv; a single microfilm in T175 series is available from US National Archives covering 1939-1945.

Hello Pete,

I just got an answer back from The Institute of Contemporary History and Wiener Library. They informedme that they still hold that collection of cards with portraits and biographical data for German military personnel including SS.

I think that i will visit them next year.

So once again thanks for the great info !!!!!!!

Greetings,

Mulisch
