Besides rescuing Mussolini, what else did he do? When did he die?

Zachary

Operation “Panzerfaust” (15-16 October 1944) - Skorzeny led an armored assault force on Castle Hill in Budapest to prevent the Hungarian regent, Admiral Nicholas Horthy, from negotiating a separate armistice with the Soviet Union at the expense of Germany. After abducting Horthy’s son, Nicholas, as a bargaining chip, who was also involved in the armistice negotiations, Skorzeny led his assault force into Castle Hill, but Horthy had already fled (he was shortly afterwards taken into German custody). Horthy abdicated and the pro-German Arrow Cross government under Ferenc Szálasi was installed.

Shawn

Zach,

As World War II ended, hundreds of high ranking Nazi, including Adoplh Eichmann and Joseph Mengele, ecaped Nazi Germany. Nazi hunters reveal why they believe that a secret organization, called Odessa, orchestrated the escape of Nazi war criminals and perpetuated Nazi ideals the world ever. Otto Skorzeny was the mastermind of Odessa.

I recall reading a quote from Skorzenzy saying that his only regret from the war was not winning.
I also found his facial scars fascinating, apparently due to dueling with daggers pre-war in Munich. Someone on here also posted pictures of other well known Nazis with similar scarring.

Zachary,

try this website

http://www.wssob.com

and search the part for the aftermath of Waffen SS...Very interesting article regarding ODESSA

In Operation Panzerfaust, Skorzeny abducted Admiral Miklos Horthy's son, Miki in a very unimaginative way...Skorzeny wrapped him in a carpet and carried him away.

After the war, Skorzeny was never captured by the Allies but turn himself to the Americans who surprisingly never charged him with any war crimes...He was described as " the most diabolical cleverest man in the Third Reich"

Skorzeny's best friend is Baron Adrian von Foelkersam, an ex-brandenburger commando incorporated into the SS Commando Force lead by Skorzeny himself..

Hello,

After the war Otto Skorzeny had his own engineering office located in Madrid. By the way: he has his RK there.

He was also in command of a small bridgehead,at Schwedt, east of the Oder, under Himmlers Army Group Weichsel, in February 1945 and caught some of Himmlers FLAK over the loss of some hamlet called Nipperwiese, where according to his memoirs,Himmler demanded to know 'if the commander at Nipperwiese, had been court-martialled - or already executed...' To which signal he replied in the negative - probably knowing he had Hitler's ear - if the issue was forced.According to Skorzeny
even Goring himself, visited the his command with medals and schnapps.
ODESSA was not very secret, it stands for;
Organization der ehemalige SS-Angehorige (Organisation of former SS-members).
