Sylvie, here's some info on Eberhardt Günther Wisliceny
Günther was one of the most decorated regimental commanders in the German army, he received:
KC with Oak Leaves and Swords,
German Cross in Gold,
Close Combat Clasp in Gold,
Wound Badge in Gold
He received KC and German Cross in Gold as commander of III./SS-Pz.Gren.Rgt.3 »Deutschland« (Das Reich) and all the other awards as commander of the same regiment.
His military career started in 1933 when he joined SS-Stabwache Berlin, in 1938 he was transfered to »Der Führer« Regiment. Next year he became chief of 8./SS-Inf.Rgt.11, which was incorporated in Das Reich division before Operation Barbarossa. In the battles before Moscow Eberhardt was seriously wounded, but in March he again returned to »Der Führer« Rgt. before finally being transfered to »Deutschland« Rgt.
He's final rank was Obersturmbannführer, though he was promoted to Standartenführer late in the war (in May 1945 when he was already a war prisoner) but he didn't accept it.
Günther died in 1985.
Regards
Mark

Dieter Wisliceny Statement
Correct. In his gaol in Bratislava (1946) Dieter Wisliceny wrote this statement (published in Eichmann by Pearlmann) that Eichmann was still alive and that he could find him. jvJimmy wrote:SS Sturmbannfuhrer Dieter Wisliceny was Eichmans deputy, Eichman even called one of his sons after him. Dieter Wisliceny
Hi, now compare this picture with his picture during his trial. He had lost some weight, I guess. jvJimmy wrote:the pic was missing!!!!!!!!!!!Jimmy wrote:SS Sturmbannfuhrer Dieter Wisliceny was Eichmans deputy, Eichman even called one of his sons after him. Re: Günther-Eberhard Wisliceny & Dieter Wisliceny
The loss of weight in Dieter is quite a contrast. Maybe he had cancer or the results of a prison diet perhaps. He definately quite fat during his years of power. I read also that even though Dieter and Eichmann were drinking and social companions (Dieter was actually instrumental in Eichmann's rise within the SS - refer to book: Quentin Reynolds "Minister of Death")...Dieter was passed over for promotion because he was otherwise a bachelor or he had no children or both. I can't exactly remember without the book in fron of me. Thanks for re-posting the pictures. Fascinating since you can't find him photographed in most books.
