I guess that both, Eichenlaub and promotion to Standartenführer, did not reach him, because he went into captivity in or short before the Falaise pocket.

Yes, after the war.... [see Hubert Meyer,"Kriegsgeschichte der 12. SS- Panzerdivision Hitlerjugend", page 351 and the following], he went into captivity on 24th August 1944. And there the Falaise pocket was closed already. So it is most likely, I guess, that he went into captivity without oakleaves.

Helly Angel wrote:[...]on 24 January 1940 he was transfered back to the Leibstandarte, posted as commander of the 2.Zug in 15.Kradschützenkompanie under the command of Kurt Meyer. Wünsche remained in this post throughout the invasion of France and the low countries, returning back to the BdF on 1 June.

Some corrections. Wünsche was transfered from the FHQ to the 15. (Krad.-)/LAH on 2. February (not 24. January).

He led the 1. Zug (not the 2. Zug):

Kompanieführer : Hauptsturmführer Kurt Meyer
I. Zug : Obersturmführer Max Wünsche
II. Zug : Obersturmführer Hugo Kraas
III. Zug : Untersturmführer Hermann Weiser

He didn't remain in this post throughout the invasion of France. On 15. May he was wounded in Holland (grazing shot at his back). On 16. or 17. May he was replaced by Obersturmführer Gustav Knittel. This replacement was planned to take place on the 10. May, but as postponed because the attack on the Low Countries started. During the fighting in France, Wünsche stayed with the Leibstandarte and served as a "Offizier zur besonderen Verwendung" (translation in English?) and as such he leads the Kompanie at Bollezeele because Meyer was wounded, and was with Dietrich at Esquelberg.

Yes, she is. Magda Schneider was several times in Obersalzberg.
