SS and SD in Liepaja(Latvia)

#1

Post by Mikedc » 13 Sep 2004, 12:17

Dear folks,

Hope somebody can help me with the following. On the internet I came across a document that dealed with SS- and SD-officers that served in the town Liepaja in Latvia. They're responsable for murdering all the jews overthere and of course also for killing other people.

But when looking for more info on the internet or on this forum for these men I came home with empty hands. And I don't have books about this subject so I also can't look it up. But maybe some off you might have some more info. What I'm looking about these men is the same as usual: DoB, short career-info, rank, SS- and party-number and DoD.

Dr. Fritz(Emil)Dietrich: Policechief in Liepaja.
SS-Hauptsturmführer Hildmann: SD-chief in Liepaja 1944-1945.
SS-Obersturmführer Kurt Jurgschait: SD-chief in Liepaja April 1943-1944.
SS-Untersturmführer Wolfgang Kügler: SD-chief Liepaja from July 14th 1941 till April 1943.
SS-Hauptsturmführer Seiffert: Liepaja SD.
SS-Hauptsturmführer Zingler: SD-chief in Liepaja in 1945.
SS-Oberscharführer Sobeck: Liepaja SD.
SS-Scharführer Karl-Emil Strott: Deputy from Wolfgang Kügler, served in Liepaja from July 1941 till January 1945.
Erhard Grauel: Commander teilkommando 2 within EK 1a(under the command of Reichert). Served at Liepaja.
Fritz Reichert: Commander of EK 1a and served with this unit in Liepaja.

Thanks,
Mikedc

Hello Max,

Photos are nice as well, but I'm hoping for more info about the persons I've written down. Still, if you want you may send me photos also, you can put them in this topic or you can send them through my p.m.

Do you have separate photos from the men I'm talking about???

Take care,
Mike

Hello Dylan,

Thanks for the additional info on Grauel. Do you also know where he was born??? And do you know if he was a party-member(if so, hope you also have his party-number)????

And I know about the book, but I don't think I'm able to buy all the books that I still wanna buy. In one year time I already bought quite a number off books regarding the SS. I have some books about the SS in general, some about Waffen-SS units, two that are dealing with the camps and I have some issues from Der Freiwillige. And I write down every book that I think is interesting to me. But I'm not able to buy the real expensive books(or I have to win the lottory one day). I'm looking for second hand ones or cheap new ones.

So thanks again for all info you can give me.
Greetings,
Mike

Hello David,

Thank you very much for this info. I had already something on Dietrich but not all of it so the additional info is welcome. Still I'm looking for his SS-number and some more info if possible.

But this Hans Baumgartner-person is new to me, I only have a Ludwig Baumgartner in my files. Do you also have a rank from this Hans Baumgartner and maybe his SS-number and DoB???

Greetings,
Mike

Mikedc -- I apologize but no on Baumgartner. All I have on the fellow is his JuNSV case summary. As for Dietrich, I'm wondering if he is the co-defendant mentioned in the Stemmler lynching case [Case No.12-1545 & 12-2272 (US v. Fritz Dietrich et al); Trial concluded 15 Jul 1947] at:

Hello David,

Thanks for letting me know and you're right, he could be indeed the co-defendant in this case. And probably again a new name for my files because I never heard of this Stemmler-guy before so I presume I don't have anything on him yet.

Hello Philmil,

Thanks for the extra information, I presume this is info about Baumgartner???? I don't see any name but because I asked David for more info about this person I guess you're also talking about him.

Greetings to both of you,
Mike

Hey Dylan,

Thanks for the info. On both men I already had something but with this I can make their files a bit better. And the info on Grauel is also much appreciated, everytime I learn a little bit more.

Still, I already noticed that the hunger can't be stopped that easily. If you're working on it and you find alot of info you still want more. And reading books is also good, it only costs alot of money if you want them all regarding this subject(SS in all it's forms)and I don't have that.

Greetings,
Mike

Hello Steve248,

This is looking great, thank you very much. With this my file on Grauel should be complete because I also don't want to make my files that big, that's a job for the real researchers. I just keep it simple but of course with as much info as possible. So this is just great...... :)

Greetings,
Mike
