57th Battalion reportably killed Russians partisans and Jews in Soligorsk/Salihorsk, Belarus.
Any contemporary or post war reports?

Hans Siegling is a fascinating character. He shows up in a fair amount of places an always managed to leave bodies behind him. He was liked by Himmler who mentioned him in a speech in 1944. Siegling was also probably in Warsaw during the uprising. Hans spent some time in the air as I have copies of the flight log of one of the pilots in Himmlers private airforce. This pilot flew Hans, Dirlewanger, and members of EG A and B back and forth. They were probably getting briefed under the "Four eyes." As mentioned he survived the war and ran a construction company that is still in the family. No pictures exist that I know of. I may have one, I just don't know it. I am sure they don't exist for a reason.

He started out in PB 3. The 1st Company Commander was Captain Hans Siegling. I do not know if he was active with them in Poland in 1939. The 1st company in 1943 helped form Schuma Battalion 57 in Riga, Latvia which was a battalion in Police Schützen Regiment 36. PB 3 was an Einsatzgruppe battalion. 1st company, according to Klemp killed at least 48,000 people.

He was promoted quickly because he was good at killing large amounts of civillians. Was he a competent field commander? I doubt it because his "Division" was considered a Dirlewanger quality unit.

I looked at three main books on PB published :

Die Deutsche Ordnungspolizei und der Holocaust im Baltikum und in Weissrussland 1941 1944 don't mention PB 57
Hitler's Willing Executionners don't mention it
Police Battalions of the Third Reich don't mention anymore
