Re: SS-Wehrgeologen?
Name queries and possible family link
[1] - Both have the same DoB are they the same person?
Ustuf. Dr.Siegfried "Blattner" - * 10.02.1910, in Paris - OR - Ustuf Dr. Siegfried "Blattmann" SS# 451 424 - * 10.02.1910
I think these names refer to the same person but which is the correct spelling?
[2] - The names Hstuf. Dr. Fritz "Wasmuth" and Dr. Fritz "Wachsmuth" were originally posted in this thread (on 27 Sep 2005, 10:37) by c.g., I think they refer to the same person apart from the spelling.
"Dr. Fritz Wachsmuth" was Kdr. 2. Kompanie / SS-Wehrgeologen - in Pasubio, Italy
I have since found two other similar name references that also served in the SS-Wehrgeologen -
01.04.1943. - in Ternowaja, 3. SS-Wehrgeologen-Kompanie (Ostuf "Wasmuth") - no other info supplied - (where is Ternowaja, and units serving there?)
and
Friedrich "Waßmuth" SS# 424 190, * 16.06.1897, in Brno (Brünn) - 00.06.42 Ustuf.. i. Wehrgeol.Btl SS., 00.11.44, Hstuf. i. II SS Panzer Korps, (Moore new) with the II. Zug in the SS-T-Div. added to the water supply to ensure the area for the Division. (Vopersal, SKK IIIa p. 262)
Are they all the same person and which spelling is correct?
[3] - Any relation?
Kdr. 1. Kompanie / SS-Wehrgeologen - in Ala, Italy (15.09.1944 - 02.05.1945)
SS-Obersturmführer. Dr. Karl Heinzelmann SS# 401 377 - (Ostuf 00.00.00, Hstuf.d.R. 01.09.42) - * 08.04.1911, Kirchheim / Teck
I also found a reference to
Kdr. 3. Kompanie / SS-Wehrgeologen - Kp.Fw. Franz Petersen, Erich Klinger -
SS-Hauptsturmführer. Rupprecht Heinzelmann SS# 353 075 - (Ostuf 00.00.00, Hstuf. 21.06.43) - * 15.08.1917.
(This unit supposedly arriving in Italy 14.05.1945? Should this date be 14.05.1944 as Italy surrendered on 02.05.1945?)
What does "Kp.Fw." mean
Any other info if available more than welcome
Regards
Brian

Re: SS-Wehrgeologen?
Is there any bio information on SS-Hstuf. Dr. (Erich?) Marquardt - Bataillonsadjutant, SS-Wehrgeologen-Bataillon.
I have found he was Bataillonsadjutant, SS-Wehrgeologen in France (possibly before) and during the Bataillon's withdrawl up through Belgium to Hengelo in the Netherlands for re-fitting before transferring to Italy. When the Bataillon went to Italy 15.09.1944, he appears to be at some stage Kdr. SS-Wehrgeologen-Abt (mot)-500. Marquardt signed a Wehrpass just before Italy's surrender as "SS-Hauptsturmführer. u. Abt.Führer".
SS-Ostubaf. Dr. Rolf Höhne is listed as Kdr. from 15.09.1944 - (no end date). So did Höhne transfer back to the SS-FHA, (where he was zug. 01.10.1942. - 00.05.1945, Leiter, Abt. I g, Kommandostab W-SS, SS-FHA), or was Marquardt just (i.V.)?
According to this Wehrpass the name change to "SS-Wehrgeologen-Abt (mot)-500" occurred on 14/15.09.1944 when it transferred to Italy

Any replies welcome

I uploaded it in a german Wehrmachts Forum.

Re: SS-Wehrgeologen?
Its been a while since this topic has resurfaced I wonder if anyone can help with my unanswered questions above.
The names were from several sources with very similar information for the persons I inquired about (eg. same DoB, orsame unit, or same university attended). As we know sometimes the names are misspelt where we find the information from and this causes confusion.
Thanks for any help
Brian

Re: SS-Wehrgeologen?
Here the translation:
1st picture
entlassen am = released on 1st may 1945
als = as SS-Rottenführer
von = from SS-Wehrgeologen Replacement companie Hamburg-LA 2
Ranglistennummer = rankingnumber 1202
signed by Hauptsturmführer Marquardt Wehrgeologen unit 500 (mot)
Unfortunately i cant read everything on the second picture, i think that would be the most interesting part.
