This photo depicts Schreck in the company of party members at a November reunion in 1933. Can anyone identify who is in this photo? jv

Well, for a start, I can tell you that Schreck is not!
It appears to be a photo of low ranking NSDAP members.

I wondered about this too. This photo comes from the Imperial War Museum photo archives in London the original caption reads that the photo depicts Schreck at a 9 November 1933 reunion. jv

Ah, that explains it! The IWM are not the experts they profess to be. I have numerous experiences of their mistakes.

They may be low ranking but this is a reunion of some of the members of the Stosstrupp Adolf Hitler. And not all are low ranking --- note Reichsleiter Karl Fiehler sixth from left with the stripped tie.

Sorry, Mark, but I doubt very much that is Fiehler....just someone who looks a bit like him.

Sorry Max but it is definately Fiehler. I have researched him for many years and have hundreds of photos of him in the early days. I too have seen this photo before and its a reunion of the Stosstrupp of which Fiehler was a member.

You're right. I went back to the original caption and it said that it was a November reunion of the Stosstrupp. I still wonder who the SS officer is. Is central person in the photo a Gauleiter? jv

I've also got many photos of Fiehler spanning the twenties and thirties. I still don't think it's him. I believe this is one of those occasions where a similar looking face in a crowd is mistaken for someone more famous. Also....
1) Fiehler's hairstyle was different in 1933;
2) Why is he in civilian clothes (one of only two in the photo)? Fiehler would be in uniform.
3) Why is this man taking such a backward position? For such an important Party member, Fiehler would be in a more prominent position.
Just some interesting points.

MAX:

I will post later today a photo of Fiehler taken in the 1930's that will match this face completely. And in this photo he is with Hitler and has his Reichsleiter uniform on. The ears and noses are the same and his hairline matches the photo above. Also Fiehler was in the Stosstrupp as the original caption stated per JV above. Will post that when I am off work.

I agree with Max, I can't understand why Karl Fiehler was in civilian amongst NS in party uniform. He look like but it's not him. far right I thank it was Strasser.
Here a pic of Munchens Oberburgermeister Karl Fiehler from 1933 at the time 17 honorary stadtrat were appointed in the town council of Munich.
pic published in Munchener Illustrierte Presse nummer 31 from 6.8.1933

Mark,
I think we will have to agree to differ!
