Harun-el-Raschid Bey-Hintersatz died on 29th of March, 1963.

Was he an Austro-Hungarian officer, or was he a German officer??
(two contradicting sources here above!!)

EDIT:
He is author of following books:
– Marschall Liman von Sanders Pascha und sein Werk. R. Eisenschmidt. Berlin. 1932.
– Schwarz oder Weiß? Joh. Kasper & Co. Berlin. 1940. 289 S.
– Achtung! Erdstrahlen sind Gefahr für Mensch, Tier und Pflanzenhaltung! Die Wünschelrute warnt! Eisenschmidt. Wiesbaden. Berlin. 1952. 32 S.

Dear Gents,

SS-Staf. Harun-el-Raschid Bey-Hintersatz was not dismissed after the desertion of the I./W-Grp. d. SS „Turkestan“.
He was till the end of the war CO of the Osttürkischen Waffen-Verband der SS.

In almost all sources a SS-Hstuf. Fürst, Franz-Josef (or Fürst, Georg ??) was to be the successor of SS-Staf Harun-el-Raschid Bey-Hintersatz.
That's not completely correct, but also not completely wrong.
SS-Hstuf. (later SS-Stubaf.) Fürst was made CO of the part of the Osttürkischen Waffen-Verband der SS, which stayed in Slovakia. (at least the complete W-Grp. d. SS „Turkestan“, and parts (or the complete??) W-Grp. d. SS „Idel-Ural“). SS-Stubaf. Fürst was even missing in action in the Area of Karlsbad in the End of April 1945.

There are reports of strength after December 1944 of the Osttürkischen Waffen-Verband der SS which showed its minum strength at 6000 men, and its maximum strength at 8500 men.Nevertheless the report of the Höchsten SS- und Polizei-Führers in Italien, SS-Ogruf. und Gen. d. Waffen-SS Wolff, Karl, on 09th April 1945 showed that the part of Osttürkischen Waffen-Verband der SS, which moved to Northern Italy (at least the complete W-Grp. d. SS „Krim“, parts of W-Grp. d. SS „Idel-Ural“ and the complete W-Einh. d. SS „Azerbajdžan“) had an entrenchement strength (Grabenstärke) of less than 4000 men.

His awards and photo indicates he was in the German Army in WW1 as supported by Thierry's findings.
