It' s very confusing:
Walter or Dr. Wilhelm Scharpwinkel !?! The same person ??

BTW (and confusing too):
I have
29.09.1944 - 00.00.1945 BdS Breslau (Befehl 05.10.1944): SS-Staf. und Oberst der Polizei Karl Stoßberg

Definitely Dr. Wilhelm Scharpwinkel, Chrish must of made a typo mistake.
His promotion to Stubaf. was the 9 November 1940.

In pursuit of the perpetrators involved in the shooting of 50 RAF POWs who escaped from
Sagan, March 1944, Scharpwinkel was implicated in the shootings that took place in the Breslau area.

A British Special Investigations Branch officer interviewed Scharpwinkel in a Moscow prison in 1946. Sometime later the Russians stated that Scharpwinkel had "died" in prison.
