Was wounded in June 1942 as Ostuf d.R. and member of 7/6th in 6th SS Division Nord.
About his death he was killed after have destroyed 3 tanks and trying to knock out the fourth.
It would be interesting to know if he had some decorations posthumosly.

Maybe this book can add a bit to this topic. It seems to be published by the comradeship of the Division.

@Nicole
One of the best books ive got , as i was written for the kompanie members, and not for the general publiek.
With this in mind, you get a great inside in the kompanie.

THe book about 3.Kp. is good and remember that parts of it also have been used in Meyers book about 12'th SS-Division. It is not to compare with Meyers book but the personal accounts and photos are good and wenn you can buy it is an supplement to the book of Meyer.

I can be wrong but I think you mean Dr. Thiray, who was SS-Hstuf with SS-Pz.-Gren.-Rgt. 25

Hello Bart,
Don't know, just found the name written like this in the following thread:
http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... y#p1419555
And I even have found another spelling, written by John Moore on Feldgrau: 12.3o Uhr Enemy has broken through the 6th Company. Company has relocated. Hstuf. Tiray and Ustuf. Willing dead.

I saw his name written in different ways...Thiray-Thirey-Tiray-Tirey so I really can't understand what is the right one!
About Ustuf Willing,is the same Ustuf Hermann Willinger reported by Hubert Meyer?
John Moore also says that on 8 July was killed Ustuf Werner from Pio. Kompanie of the 25th Rgt

Knössel was CO in June 1944, maybe he did succeed Knössel for some days??? Or maybe Schümann and Knössel were temporary CO's because Bigenwald got wounded...

On the following site John just posted a document on which his name is written as Tiray:
