Re: Prinz Eugen's officers
1 = Rudolf (?) Schmidt (Div.-Ib in 1942)
2 = Ersnt Biesemeyer (IVa in 1942-1943).

Re: Prinz Eugen's officers
You're thinking of Walter Schmidt and I agree he looks like him, but this photo was published under the name of Josef Schwörer. Might be an error, but I have no idea, since I've never seen a photo of Schwörer (except for this, suspicious one). Can anyone 100% confirm that this is Schmidt - or Schwörer?Charles Trang wrote:1 = Rudolf (?) Schmidt (Div.-Ib in 1942)

Re: Prinz Eugen's officers
Hi
In my files the first name of Schmidt is Walter (born 14/10/1909, different of another Walter Schmidt who serve at Wiking). Here the pic of him. I think different officer that n°1.
Regards

Another comparison with Schmidt's photos (to me, it really looks like it's the same man)

Re: Prinz Eugen's officers
Divisionsstab of 7. SS-Freiwilligen-Gebirgs-Division "Prinz Eugen" in 1942/1943. Front row FLTR: SS-Sturmbannführer Ernst Biesemeier (IVa Versorgungsoffizier atau Divisionsintendant); SS-Standartenführer der Reserve Stefan Hedrich (Infanterie Führer); SS-Gruppenführer und Generalleutnant der Waffen-SS Artur Phleps (Divisionskommandeur); SS-Oberführer Dr.med. Kurt-Peter Müller (IVb Ärzte / Sanitätsdienst); and SS-Sturmbannführer Erich Eberhardt (Ia Erster Generalstabsoffizier). Who are the rest at the back?

Re: Prinz Eugen's officers
2nd row (from left to right): Stubaf. Wolfgang Wetzling, Ostubaf. Otto Bayer, Ostubaf. Walter Zimmermann.
Hstuf. Eggi Neumann behind/above Zimmermann.
I think I might be able to recognize a couple more faces.

Nice one, Mike!Michael Miller wrote:Viktor Brack seated with hands clasped above Eberhardt.
Any ideas about the man with glasses next to Brack? He was still in PE staff in the summer of 1944, under Kumm's command.
Additional photos of two more unidentified persons (both were Hstuf. at the time group photo was taken):
Re: Prinz Eugen's officers
This guy might be Hans Feierlein. Not sure.
Comparison with two Feierlein's photos: (ignore the slightly different moustache and focuse on the "sad" eyes, dark eyebrows, mouth, ears and especially the nose, which slightly leans to his left)

Re: Prinz Eugen's officers
After some more comparing (with additional photos), I don't have any more doubts that that man is indeed Schmidt and not Schwörer.Ivan Ž. wrote:You're thinking of Walter Schmidt and I agree he looks like him, but this photo was published under the name of Josef Schwörer.Charles Trang wrote:1 = Rudolf (?) Re: Prinz Eugen's officers
Hello, everyone from this section, I hope some of you are following the Heer/Waffen-SS section as well, where I'm also trying to find out who this "mysterious" staff officer is: http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 0#p1787070 He served until mid-1943 as Hstuf. in "Prinz Eugen" staff and then as Stubaf. in V Gebirgs-Korps staff. He had quite a few decorations as well. Any ideas on who he might be?

Re: Prinz Eugen's officers
PS Just one additional detail - above are Schmidt's awards from the time he was Hstuf. and below from the Stubaf. [absolutely Schmidt], previously incorrectly identified as Schwörer. A full match (with a couple of additions in the meantime).Ivan Ž. wrote:After some more comparing (with additional photos), I don't have any more doubts that that man is indeed Schmidt and not Schwörer.
