1 = Rudolf (?) Schmidt (Div.-Ib in 1942)
2 = Ersnt Biesemeyer (IVa in 1942-1943).

You're thinking of Walter Schmidt and I agree he looks like him, but this photo was published under the name of Josef Schwörer. Might be an error, but I have no idea, since I've never seen a photo of Schwörer (except for this, suspicious one). Can anyone 100% confirm that this is Schmidt - or Schwörer?

Hi

In my files the first name of Schmidt is Walter (born 14/10/1909, different of another Walter Schmidt who serve at Wiking). Here the pic of him. I think different officer that n°1.

Another comparison with Schmidt's photos (to me, it really looks like it's the same man)

Divisionsstab of 7. SS-Freiwilligen-Gebirgs-Division "Prinz Eugen" in 1942/1943. Front row FLTR: SS-Sturmbannführer Ernst Biesemeier (IVa Versorgungsoffizier atau Divisionsintendant); SS-Standartenführer der Reserve Stefan Hedrich (Infanterie Führer); SS-Gruppenführer und Generalleutnant der Waffen-SS Artur Phleps (Divisionskommandeur); SS-Oberführer Dr.med. Kurt-Peter Müller (IVb Ärzte / Sanitätsdienst); and SS-Sturmbannführer Erich Eberhardt (Ia Erster Generalstabsoffizier). Who are the rest at the back?

2nd row (from left to right): Stubaf. Wolfgang Wetzling, Ostubaf. Otto Bayer, Ostubaf. Walter Zimmermann.

Hstuf. Eggi Neumann behind/above Zimmermann.

I think I might be able to recognize a couple more faces.

Nice one, Mike!

Any ideas about the man with glasses next to Brack? He was still in PE staff in the summer of 1944, under Kumm's command.

This guy might be Hans Feierlein. Not sure.

Comparison with two Feierlein's photos:

(ignore the slightly different moustache and focuse on the "sad" eyes, dark eyebrows, mouth, ears and especially the nose, which slightly leans to his left)

After some more comparing (with additional photos), I don't have any more doubts that that man is indeed Schmidt and not Schwörer.

Hello, everyone from this section, I hope some of you are following the Heer/Waffen-SS section as well, where I'm also trying to find out who this "mysterious" staff officer is: http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 0#p1787070 He served until mid-1943 as Hstuf. in "Prinz Eugen" staff and then as Stubaf. in V Gebirgs-Korps staff. He had quite a few decorations as well. Any ideas on who he might be?

PS Just one additional detail - above are Schmidt's awards from the time he was Hstuf. and below from the Stubaf. [absolutely Schmidt], previously incorrectly identified as Schwörer. A full match (with a couple of additions in the meantime).
