SS-Stubaf. Ewald Klapdor

Post by Georg_S » 17 Apr 2006 08:38

Hello,

I wonder if someone can provide me exact
service of SS-Stubaf. Ewald Klapdor
What I know is following:

SS-T.Division during the Westfeldzug (Unknown unit) as SS-Ustuf
Maybesomeonecan provide me info what he did before the war, was he attached to the
SS-TV or was he transfered to SS-T when it was raised in August 1939 (Official austellungsdatum 16 oktober)
5.SS-Div"Wiking" SS-Pz.Jäg.Abt, served as Adjutant
5.SS-Pz.Div "Wiking" Kp Chef (2.Kp) Later Btl.Kdr.
10.SS-Pz.Div "Frundsberg" Was he in SS-Pz.Rgt.10 or? What was hi service
He attended the last Generalstabsoffizierklasse of the war, he was sent to Flensburg in April/May 45 and
was attached to the "Heissmeyer" Gruppe,

Was he awarded with the DKiG? Many sources says so but I haven´t found any proof of it.

Unfortunately wasn´t he so open to speak about his time in the SS-T or after that he became Generalstabsoffizier
but maybe someone can fill the gaps I have.

TIA

//Georg

Hello Georg,

All I can add is the following:
SS-nr. 292.820).
On 30-1-1943 he was promoted to SS-Hstuf.
In July 1944 he was commander from 1. Batterie with 1.(Pz.)Bataillon from SS-Panzer-Artillerie-Regiment 10
within 10. SS-Panzer-Division 'Frundsberg'.
After that he served with 5. SS-Panzer-Division 'Wiking', first as a Kompanie-CO and later as a CO from an
Abteilung within SS-Panzer-Regiment 5.

Can't really say, Georg. Vopersal only mentions that Klapdor was, as a member of the above mentioned standarte, in 1939 recruited for the service in Tot.Aufkl.Abt.

Am I right when I think Klapdor had no successor as Chef of 15./Nordland after he was wounded in December 1941 till the Kp. was disbanded?

Hi,

SS-Untersturmführer Klapdor was with the SS-Totenkopf-Kradschützen-Ersatz-Kompanie, based in Radolfzell, during 1940. On 06.10.1940 the SS-FHA issued an order which disbanded the company effective 20.10.1940. On that day all the men were to be transferred to the SS-Kradschützen-Ersatz-Bataillon and SS-Untersturmführer Klapdor was placed as Zugführer in the 3./SS-Kradschützen-Ersatz-Bataillon.

Hello again,

Just found that he was promoted SS-Obersturmführer, aktive Dienst, on 20.04.1941 while serving with the SS-Aufkl.Abt.5. His name is given as Eberhard Klapdor on the promotions list.

Klapdor transferred to the SS-Totenkopf-Ersatz-Bataillon II in late September 1940 and temporarily led the SS-Totenkopf-Kradschützen-Ersatz-Kompanie in Radolfzell after its commander was wounded in an accident until the unit was dissolved. He was then reassigned to the SS-Kradschützen-Ersatz-Bataillon. From volume 7 of "German Cross in Gold Holders of the SS and Police," Combat Elements, Panzer Regiment.
