Slovak uniform
Re: Slovak uniform
No problem. Here is my original ww2 slovak army buckle. Width is identical with geman "Gott mit uns" buckle, but there is a different way of connecting with belt. However you can buy cheap czechoslovak/czech belt and use it - it will work. These belts are a bit wider but they will do.
Here is one from ebay.

closer look
Take a closer look on a shield with slovak doublecross - they produced sidecap´s badge in very same fasion. Lines, which are running across - are on ww2 badges only.
Re: Slovak uniform
Breadbag for slovak ww2 soldier. Looks very same like austro-hungarian with a pocket inside for canteen.
Two breadbags front/back.

Lets compare.
On the left is a breadbag of czecho-slovak people´s army used during communism and even in nineties. You can buy it very cheaply and make it look ww2 slovak. They are selling them like "czech breadbags" on ebay.
In the middle lovely replica of kuk army breadbag, which is actually identical with slovak ww2.
On the right - cut in half is a german ww2 breadbag for heer.

Combat Low Boots
Combat Low Boots with correct slovak way of using hobnails. There was 24 hobnails for single shoe and much bigger half moon in the front - sadly I was unable to find a correct one
See two rows of white dots around - they were made by inserting small pieces of wood to get additional strength.
See picture from slovak army ww2 manual in left upper corner.

Re: Slovak uniform
Very interesting photos........thanks for posting them. I assume these fellows belong to a Slovak reenactor's group?
Re: Slovak uniform
Yes, we are reenacting slovak army during ww2 and we are proud of it.
There wasn´t single slovak soldier shot beceause of desertion /there wasn´t executions for political views either/ during ww2. Slovak army even did not use snipers since it was immoral - they received first sniper rifles in 1944 /k98´s/.

Re: Slovak uniform
First of all: yes there is really few slovaks in this world and i am happy to be part of this tribe1900 wrote:Well I´m trying
1900 is nuklik. I am deeply sorry about that, but there is so few Slovaks in the world, that sometimes we have impersonate.
I will be happy to give some advice. Brainstorming is a good thing. By the way, there is a new book from slovak author Pavel Mičianek: Slovenská armáda v ťažení proti Sovietskemu zväz /Slovak army in war against Soviet union/. I found there lovely ilustrations of slovak uniforms, which were produced in colour, during existence of slovak army. I think, that it´s closest we can get.
I've bought the book my self and was enjoying the part with the illustrations of the uniforms too and can recommend it to everyone who is interested in armed forces of the first slovak republik
Alles Gschmeidling in Meidling?

Re: Slovak uniform
Does anyone have any information on what sort of ID or paper items a Slovak soldier would be carrying with him? Or possibly scans of the soldier's manual?
