Hungarian pilot - need information

#1

Post by skoblin » 21 Jan 2008, 19:05

Hello

I am trying to find information regarding my wife's grandfathers military unit. His name was Thűrmer Pal and he was a pilot in the Hungarian Air Force. We know that he joined the Air Force on October 5th, 1939 and was primarily trained as an aerial photographer. His unit served on the Eastern Front and was stationed in Kharkov in 1942. His unit was still on the Eastern Front as late as August 1943 in the Kiev area. He was captured by the Red Army in March 1945 and spent 3 years in Soviet labour camps in Sevastopol and Feodosiya. Any information would be appreciated.

Some additional information - in Russia Thűrmer Pal apparently piloted a JU-88 and we have a picture of him and some other pilots celebrating their 500th flight over enemy territory.
