Today the body of King Carol II (1893-1953) returned home after 63 years of exile. He will buried in the Curtea de Arges monastery beside the other members of the royal family.

He is the most controversial king of the four which reigned in Romania from 1881 to 1948. After renouncing 2 times to the throne and leaving the country in 1925 he returned to Romania in 1930. In 1938 he proclaimed a new Constitution, through which he gained dictatorial powers. After the territorial losses in 1940 he passed from adulation to disgrace. He abdicated in favor of his son and left Romania for good. He died in 1953 in Estoril Portugal. He was buried near the kings of Portugal.

You must also not forget that young prince Carol deserted his troops in 1917 during WW1. He flew with Zizi Lambrino at Odessa and married her... I think he has done too much awfull things to be burried in Romania... :?
