Cernadova/King Carol I bridge

Post by James A Pratt III » 08 Oct 2016 17:23

Was the Cernadova/ King Carol I railroad bridge damaged by German aircraft during WW I? It was bombed by KG 1 on 28 September 1916 and possibly on 17,20,23 24 October 1916. German accounts have it being destroyed in late September. It was still standing when the Central Powers reached it later that year when the Rumainans blew up part of it. Can any one help me? I know it was damaged by the VVS in 1941.

This Famous Bridge built by Ing , Anghel Saligny took a lots of heat and sustained some damage but not to the point where was unusable . The repairs were done about 20 years later during the Communist Gheorghiu Dej regim than in power in Romania .
