Thai Merchant Navy?

Post by Hama » 28 Dec 2016 13:19

I'm curious, as one of the few independent eastern Asian nations at the time, did Thailand have much of a merchant navy on the outbreak of the Pacific War? If so, did they play any notable role in the war during their time on the Axis side? Were their activities limited to transport or did Thailand also operate armed merchant cruisers like other combatants during the war?

You are referring to Thai Maritime Navigation Co., Ltd. (T้MN) - found in 1940 after nationalizing the marine ships of those foreign merchant ships - now they have been dissolved since 2011 though
