Hungarian Infantry Platoon TO&E 1944

Post by Husaria » 21 Mar 2017 22:02

Hello,

I have been getting into a tabletop war game called "Chain of Command" and I am having trouble finding sources to recreate a Hungarian force. The best thing I have found so far is an American Intelligence report that gives a TO&E but I do not think it is fitting. It could be good for a early-mid war force but by late war a lot of what is listed definitely didn't exist or was modified.

Just asking for help with any sources that can provide an idea of what the composition of a Hungarian infantry platoon in 1944 is. While I am asking it would also be great if anyone knew of specific Hungarian tactical doctrine at the lower levels. I know about the existence of a Hungarian army manual online that would be perfect for this but it has not been translated into English.

I greatly appreciate any help that can be given! The lack of English sources on the Hungarians is disheartening and I believe they deserve better exposure!

In 1943 TO&E Hungarian infantry platoon consisted of 4 squads (1 MG each). The same was probably true in 1944-45 as well. In real life 3 squads will be, probably, more common thing.

Do you have source for this? How many men and what weapons for each squad are needed. The Intelligence report I mentioned says:

3 squads of 11 men (2SMG, 1 LMG, 8 Rifles) along with one mortar team comprised of 11 men and 50mm Mortar.

SMG is Danuvia 39M, LMG is MG30, Rifle is Mannlicher M1895.

Of that, I have no idea.
