Netherlands NSB 1936 Item

I have a postcard issued by the Dutch Nazi Party in 1936. The rear side simply states: "Aandenken le Lustrum 14 December 1936". Does anyone know what this means?

Yes, actually, after posting the above image, I had a chance to play with the verbiage on the postcard in a Google search and it appears to have been issued to commemorate the NSB Party Congress in Amsterdam on December 12 and their party's 5th anniversary two days later. There was some information about 11,000 NSB members meeting in Amsterdam for their party congress. Don't understand the handwritten message on the back though. many thanks for you fast reply.

Perhaps one of the Dutch members could comment on the following: it looks like a quote from the Wilhelmus. Is there is any special significance in the use of the archaic original spelling ("vaderlant" etc)?

+ (maybe location and name last).

Just some final bits of info.
See latin meaning of lustrum and 5 years.
Party was formed on december 14, 1931.
So 5th. anniversary sounds right.

Still not sure of the name but think the
Hou Zee is either a place or greeting...

And finally, the writer might be dyslexic
or it is written in "old dutch" or..?
Everywhere I have looked it is spelled
Grote with one E. Hou Zee, not with an S.

Waleed Y. Majeed had it right.
"I greet all my colleagues's. Hou Zee! (NSB salute), and on the other side: "Faithful in the fatherland till the end/death". You can't really translate it 100% from Dutch to English, otherwise it will be "Fatherland faithful the till death".

Interesting to see someone from the USA with an postcard from the Netherlands.

Wow! Many thanks to both of you. Great information!!!!!! It looks like the card was also mailed from Amsterdam on the December 14 anniversary to someone in Frankfurt, Germany. I must assume he was there for the NSB meeting two days earlier on December 12, 1936. I found something on the internet indicating roughly 11,000 NSB members attended the party congress. The card popped up in a postcard Auction last month as a Dutch Fascist item. There was enough of the image showing the flag that allowed me to figure it out to be a NSB item and fortunately there wasn't too much bidding competition getting it. I had no idea it was tied in with the NSB Congress and the organization's fifth anniversary. I must assume in 1945 much of this was destroyed and not too many of these things are around now. In the US American Nazi postcards issued in the 1930s are hard to find. Not too many around now. Again, many, many thanks!!!!!!!!!

The text on the bottem of the card is according to me a sentance from the 1e vers of the Dutch Anthem.

Wilhelmus van Nassouwe
ben ik, van Duitsen bloed,
den vaderland getrouwe
blijf ik tot in den dood.
Een Prinse van Oranje
ben ik, vrij, onverveerd,
den Koning van Hispanje
heb ik altijd geëerd.

Here is the text a litle bit modern than on the postcard.

The Houzee (Hoezee) greeting was also used by de Flemisch VNV.
One version is that it means Hou Zee (a maritime greeting) Keep the right course.
The other meaning is that it is a joyfull greeting.

Wim, many thanks! I'm sure the NSB and VNV members used the Houzee (Hoezee) as a more joyfull greeting. It wouldn't make too much sense the other way. Would you say that is correct?

Well i see that both options are valid. It is a greeting of people who think in the same manner. Our believes are going in the right way, it also could mean "be save" because if you take the wrong course it doesn't end well so you have according to me a number of options. It is also a form of respect, i respect you and you me.

Of course the deeper meaning of the greeting is mostly forgotten than just the greeting itself.
