----Original Title:Spain and WWII (GT)----

https://www.rferl.org/a/spain-awakens-b ... 44188.html

Good morning all,

Head Note: Am aware that Spain had a varied political complexion in this era.

Article mentions:

Ustaša movement
Independent State of Croatia
Jasenovac concentration camp

NOTE: Article is mostly a tie-in about WWII and contemporary Spanish matters in discussion for resolution. I am posting this article ONLY for the historical components and not the current political stuff. Please approach the article accordingly and keep us AHF-compliant.

Spain was not a "minor Axis nation" in WWII, so this thread should not go here. On the other hand, the "article" is not about Spain and WWII, but about Bosnia and Croatia coping with their past. Clickbait.

Good morning Iron Machine,

Appreciate correction; my head note reference this.

Hello All :

An interesting article. If the current goverment of Spain finally gets around to digging up Franco, Pavelic, and Luburic, and needs a place to dispose of them, here in the U.S, in California, we have the Kettleman Hills Hazardous Waste Disposal Landfill, which would be a perfect place to put them, along with all the other thousands of 55 gallon drums of industrial toxins that are already there .

Respecftfully :

The "Spanish" "Socialist" "Party" has already tried this, but as it has been told before (see viewtopic.php?f=32&t=184080&hilit=valle ... a%C3%ADdos), it is not up to the Spanish government to decide the future of Franco's corpse or to take it out of the Valle de los Caídos. If it was, Franco would not be there by now (If it was up to Franco himself, he wouldn't either; it was not Franco's idea to be buried there). And in the cases of Pavelic and Luburic the government is still more powerless to do anything (even assuming that someone in the Spanish government knows who Pavelic and Lubiric were).
