High Hungarian and Finnish Awards in the State Historical Museum

#1

Post by Alexander85 » 30 Dec 2019, 14:47

Good day!

Awards of the Kingdom of Hungary and Finland, collection of the State Historical Museum in Moscow.
In museum online database they are mistakenly dated and attributed. It's also unknown - to whom these awards were awarded.
But, there is speculation that the awards with swords belonged to Erich Raeder.

Are there any official statistics on awarding such high awards?

1. Magyar Érdemrend.

3. Vapaudenristin ritarikunta.

That is indeed the Breast Star of the Grand Cross of the Finnish Order of the Cross of Liberty.

Eight foreigners were granted that award between 1941–44:

Reichmarschall Hermann Göring 25 March 1942
Generalfeldmarschall Wilhelm Keitel 25 March 1942
Großadmiral Erich Raeder 25 March 1942
Generalfeldmarschall Walther von Brauchitsch 25 June 1942
SS-Reichsführer Heinrich Himmler 30 July 1942 (see: viewtopic.php?p=1078522#p1078522)
Mareșal Ion Antonescu 10 November 1943
Großadmiral Karl Dönitz 11 April 1944
Generaloberst Eduard Dietl 24 June 1944 (posthumous)

Thanks!
Only one cavalier of this award was captured by the Soviets - Erich Raeder.

Also, in Russian Museums are a few stars of Grand Cross of Suomen Valkoisen Ruusun ritarikunta.

1. State Historical Museum. It mistakenly named and dated. Holder of this award is unknown.
