Hi,
has anybody informations about some
Colonel Mitulescu - who should have been Chief of Staff of the 10th romanian Division under General Ionel Glogojanu ?
I am not sure about the name or the spelling - it is from a handwriten journal of my grandfather cousin so it could be false spelled or a complatly other name and I have missread the handwriting -.-
would be great to get informations about him (and a picture if possible) ..
I thought he would have been killed with Glogojanu at the explosion in Odessa Octobre 1941 but he is not mentioned at the death-list (only a Colonel Ionescu Mangu but I am confided I have not missread that much)
thanks a lot and kind regards,
Alexander
EDIT:
so these are the facts till now:

Apparently his name was Lt. Col. Cristodor N. Mitulescu (born 1895 - date of death unknown), and he was indeed Chief of Staff of the 10th Infantry Division in 1941. Unfortunately right now I can only assist you by searching online, and I could find his name mentioned only in a single document (page 31-32) dated 18.10.1941, which describes the evacuation procedures of Jews living in Odessa.

Thank you mihaiS
now at least I know that the name is right and who to look after, the full name is of great help
so he really should have survived the explosion of the Odessa HQ as he is not mentioned in the casualty list - [edit: not up to date: but strange that he "disapears" from the records after the explosion.. maybe he was wounded and not longer in service after the explosion? ... one puzzle solved, an other opend
]
Thanks a lot
Alexander
EDIT: got a little more informations in a footnote of an other "book" to the same document: http://hauster.de/data/OttmarTrascaRO.pdf
Regiment commander of the 15th Artillery 25.11.1942-31.03.1943
Dissmissed from service (?) 31.03.1943

Hello,
Have you some details about this explosion that killed the Divizia 10 Infanterie CO near Odessa in October 1941?
Was it a Soviet shell? A Soviet bomb? An accident? When and where exactly did it occur?
Thank you!
Regards,
CNE503

Hi CNE503
it is the explosion on the 22th of octobre 1941 in Odessa by russian partisans
it was a major event - caused the death of 10th of thousends of jews the romanians killed for revenge ("Odessa Massaker")
you should easily find all kind of informations about it online
as the whole HQ of the romanian forces in Odessa was blown up a lot of military personal was killed - including 4 german officers - including the german "Hafenkommandant" Kapitän zur See Schmidt
could send you the casultie list if you want it
regards
Alexander
PS: my grandfathers cousin was 1h before the explosion with the romanian general and Kapitän Schmidt - he just survived the explosion by chance as he left the building before, so my interest
it seems the romanians were forewarned by a russian woman about the mines in the building but refused to evcuate as they didn't find any explosoives

I linked two pretty good articles in Romanian about the explosion from Odessa. It is easily readable with google translate, let me know if you have any query about a certain translation, it's not clear enough
