Ave Octavianus!

Otto Abt commanded the 8th Infantry Brigade between 1 February 1941 - 1 October 1941. Until 1 May, he commanded the Brigade as a Colonel (not all that unusual in the Hungarian Army). The Hungarian Army did not have acting ranks.

I will see if I can find anything concerning the 5th Infantry Regiment and its Battalions.

Best wishes,

AJK

Ave AJK,

Thanks for explanation about Otto Abt's ranks "complications". :D All much appreciated.

If you find any details about 5th IR and especially about 2nd Battalion I would much appreciate if you could let me know.

Gratia,

Octavianus

Yes, Alsólendva is Altlendva, now Slovenia.

To Octavianus:
OVIUM NON CURAT NUMERUM LUPUS (Virgilius, Bucolicae 7;52)
"..attacked sheep has no care about the number of wolves in the wolfpack.."
More adherent proverb than yours to such a conflict.

Ave amici,

Amici, sorry for a bit late response. I am renovating my house now and it takes much of my time, so there is very little "tempus" left for my internet activities. :(

MEIN GOTT, Horthy et Andras! SOOOOOO many Hungarian WKII posters! This is simply SPLENDIDUS!!!!

* Horthy, do you have any special Hungarian WWII recruiting posters from 1941-1942, which show the Hungarian soldiers? Do you also have any Hungarian posters from World War I?

*
....and Kormend is actually on the border line. What strange if this town was bombed during open war operations? Simply I don't understand why such a querelle.
The Red Army rolled through these parts of Hungary very quickly and besides some minor skirmishes I am not ware of any major confrontations between the Germans & Hungarians on one side and the Soviets on the other. Körmend and Szentgotthard were quickly secured whereupon the new line was placed along the Mur River.
OVIUM NON CURAT NUMERUM LUPUS (Virgilius, Bucolicae 7;52)
Hm, don't know if this is exactly grammtically correct. It has been a while since I have learned Latin and Greek in gymnasium, but OVIUM is Gen.Pl. therefore it should be CURANT (3.Pers.Pl.) -> Ovis non curat numerum lupi.

Ovis, -is, f. = a sheep
Yes, Alsólendva is Altlendva, now Slovenia.
Today this town is called LENDAVA.
Do you mean something like this?
Ja, Kocjo! I'm looking for photographs of Royal Hungarian troops in Murávidek or as you call it the Prekmurje during 1941-1945. My GGF (b. 1860) originated from there before marrying and settling down in Carinthia.

* Andras, would it be possible to send me your poster via PM? I could not see it. :(

Gratiam,

Octavianus

The caption on András's postcard:

divinam aeternam, credo in resurrectionem Hungariae! Amen
