Thanx, I've read about Nalcik, but nothing about Groznii ... only on the map ... Could you Victor confirm the map with some additional infos ?

As far as I know Nalchik was the last Axis victory in the Caucasus. They never took Groznii, IIRC. The plan was to advance towards it.

Wilhelm Tieke book "Tha Caucasus and the Oil" gives an good account of the Battle for Nalchik and the overall campaign in the Caucasus.

Thanx you both ... That map includes also the planned battles ? The advance to Groznii ?
I've read a book written by a romanian vet from an alpin regiment ... It includes also the battle along the Baksan River and the battle for Nalcik.

by the way, for a few years ago the sent some news from the civil war in groznii and one of the rebels wore a german helmet.

Din pacate pentru moment nu imi aduc aminte numele si autorul :( ... ar trebui sa trec pe la biblioteca ... Voi incerca sa aflu cat mai curand ... Oricum am vrut sa spun ca din punct de vedere al tipariturii este proasta ... pagini care se repeta , hartie proasta dar este interesanta ca si continut ...

By fortune, this morning I found out the name and the author ... :) The book's name is "Memorii de razboi" , author General (r) Dumitrescu Teodor, Editura "Rasunetul " Bistrita 1997 ...

I'm sorry for using romanian language :( ... My mistake ... I have told to Victor that I had not remember the name of the book and the author ...

Victor : Yes it is a problem finding the publisher ... it is from Bistrita... "Rasunetul" is the local newspaper of Bistrita and they are publishing books but in small number ... If I may help .... :D
