Romanian (?) town/city written in German...decipher help!

Post by USAF1986 » 17 Oct 2002 00:34

Slighty off topic, but does anyone recognize the name of what I think is a Romanian town/city written in German? This was the name of the place that the German airship "LZ 101" attacked on the date indicated.

Thanks!
Shawn

If the first letter is C then it could be Ciulnitza, which is a small town, half way between Bucharest and Constantza harbor. It has some importance to the railway network.
Maybe others could give us more details.

Yes, it seems to be Ciulnitza (Ciulnita in romanian). During that time the romanian army was retreating to Moldavia ... (the date written -October 5, 1916 - seemes to fit to the date of the fights around Ciulnitza )
