That building and the shutters have a very modern feel.

Solved, thanks to you.

As modern looking as this building from same era?

Denmark was not that far back although most known for its bacon and butter. :)

Hi Guys,

Some of these re-enactment photos are getting into print.

I know a guy who then had a local militaria shop and takes part in a US Army re-enactment group with his Jeep. About ten years ago, he and his vehicle were photographed outside a well known local cinema, which is boarded up and disused. Within a year it had appeared in a local book on the area in WWII captioned something like "US troops outside ****** Cinema, 1944". The give away should have been that he is plump and in his fifties.

Cheers,

Sid.

Yep, you can simulate clothing and equipment, but that gaunt, prematurely aged look is very difficult to copy without access to advanced computer graphics and makeup.

Wondering about the license plate - shouldn't it be black with white digits?

There are a couple of other posts about this bike ride.

One suggests it was in 1942:
viewtopic.php?f=38&t=240821

Another that the one photo "should be dated between 1 May 1944 and his promotion to Untersturmführer d.R. on 21 June 1944":
viewtopic.php?f=38&t=240806

To me the top photo looks like it could be authentic, the one with the automobile looks like it's been modified. To me the guy doesn't look like Zingel.

There is a re-enactor group that has a number of photos, some of which have the same look as the one with the auto. Moreover, there page about Zingel doesn't include these bike ride ones for some reason.

Hello

All pictures are from Danish National Archive, so no re-enactor pictures for sure!
