Yugo M-53 Receiver

#1

Post by Cherokee Blue » 30 Aug 2007, 04:21

Hi Guys; Just wondering if anyone knows of a vendor who is fabricating fake receivers for the Yugo version of the M-42? I have the parts kit and would like to set one up for display. If not, I guess I'll have to see if I can make one  .

The M53/MG42 receivers are being reproduced by only three companies right now. Wiselite Engineering is making the nicest receivers (and replacement camming sections), but are selling all production to Century Arms (?) to construct their upcoming M53 semi-auto. Coldsteel Solutions also sell the sections. You must get on a waiting list. Both of these receivers cost around $350. Philadelphia Ordnance sells a machined MG42 receiver section that is useable only for display purposes. It's around $450. BRP Corp sells a pair of MG42/M53 receiver section stampings that must be welded together to form a receiver section. Price: $375. To all of these (except the Philadelphia Ordnance machined receiver ) add the necessary "ratchet plate" for $35 and the "buffer tabs" that retain the buffer/stock assembly into the receiver, for $30. Have your welding skills sharp.

For tons of information on rebuilding the MG42/M53 back to their glory days before the FEDS torch-cut them to pieces, go to:

http://www.mg42.us/

Note: Whatever you do, KEEP IT LEGAL!!!!! The Feds do not play when it comes to machine guns, and a rewelded receiver is considered an actual machine gun unless you alter it in ways that the Feds have stipulated. IE, the receiver must have a steel block welded inside so that a Full Automatic bolt assembly cannot be inserted. In addition, the fire control group mounting hole must be elongated so that it cannot accept a full-auto FCG.

I make my propane guns legal by building my own receiver sections from thin 16ga steel that won't accept anything original inside.

Otherwise, have fun and jump in.

Thanks very much for all the great info. :D I really appreciate it. The wife's getting kind of irritated seeing a bunch of pieces laying around in the closet. I'll check out the different sites and see what I can come up with.

Does any know of some one or a website that sells semi automatic mg42 receivers that's not cut up or that's not only 80% done.?
