The bootmaker discussed in the other thread?

That would surely explain the drinking rumors.

can you give me your opinion on these pair of boots?
from the cut it looks like LB boots, but as if they were flatened on the sides. unflaten them or show another angle of the boots/put the boots on and take another pic. if it is LB then all you have to do is hobnail and blacken them. to not have as much hassle i'd blacken them with a dye kit (atthefront has them if you cannot locally obtain one) because depending what stock of leather LBs bootmaker uses shoepolish tends to peel off once it dries.

no not really since my last pair of LB jacks that wasn't stuffed with paper on shipment came flattened like that, and to be exact the ankle in the pic is more flattened than the shaft. wear the boots, and the crease at the ankles will develop and it will look like my pairs of LBs posted. in my pics i try to take pics of the boots from rotational angles, so you can compare.

wow you take one glance at a side photo of a flattened boot and all of a sudden you 'know' its crap. this boot is exactly the same LBs i posted, but since you're easily fooled by a one angled photo i should get an original and take an unflattering picture of it to have you wondering whether it's crap and fit for a human foot.

Can someone tell me about these stiefel, are they post war? perhaps late war? I have had them for a few years now and have not seen many post war ones like these. Any info is appreciated. The heels were covered by Continental rubber heels, sadly these came off and were re-covered by the local shoe man as I needed the boots. They are very sturdy, pebble leather uppers and now the leather in the lowers is smooth.

Thank you

Erich

Sudamerika, the boots that you posted look like original ones, especially if they bore rubber Continental Heels. Many war time jackboots had rubber half soles and heels, they weren't all leather and hobnailed... The Bundeswehr Jackboots didn't look like the ones in the photo but some of them did feature Continental made soles. Just my thoughts.

many of the boots that have continental rubber sole are early postwar (1946-50) these boots look like a backseam version of a side seamed pair that i posted pics of in this thread. some of these immediate postwar pairs may have pebbled or smooth leather shafts that might resemble ddr jackboots, tend to always be wood pegged, and have either hard or soft toes. i know sometimes early postwar are posted on ebay as originals, and could be difficult to tell apart unless you ask questions on sz marks, toe area, shaft texture, etc.

hello, i can't really tell solely from the side view if they're acceptable for all groups; yours have pebbled leather shafts, which can be dismissed as cracked leather to your benefit, but i've seen ridiculously late postwar pairs (with the side straps) used for some events meaning your boots are better than many out there. perhaps if i could see a photo concentrating on the 'toe area' i may be able to say whether they are on par with the higher-end repros.

ATF's jacks are crap.

Buy a pair of Wachbattalion boots if you can find them, remove the rubber half sole and replace it with a hobnailed leather half sole.

Has anyone purchased or tried boots from Military Tour? They also sell these eBay.com. Customers seem satisfied, commenting these to be comfortable. By the looks I'd say with a bit of modifications (thread is white and needs darkening etc) they would look Ok. Maybe one downside is weird hobnails. Price is very reasonable, 129$.
