SS black visor cap with feldgrau uniform

Post by Oberst Stucks » 11 Dec 2017 21:11

Greetings everyone.
I just have a simple doubt, and I'd like to know your opinion on the matter.
I am preparing a short web movie, and a character is a Waffen-SS officer. I have everything perfect for his costume: feldgrau close collar M36 officer tunic, breeches, boots and officer belt. The only thing I am not very sure about is the visor cap. I have only a black officer cap, of the Allgemeine-SS type. My question is: it would be too divergent from the real regulations? The cap is perfect for the rank and insignia, it's just black with the green-gray uniform.
Opinions?
Kindest regards,
Stucks

Army had regulations.. So, no, don't use a black visor from the Allgemeine-SS in a W-SS combat unit or even outside that organisation.

You are right, that's exactly what I thought. I will look around for a feldgrau visor cap, maybe put in the 130-140€ and purchase one from Erel. Thank you very much for your imput :)

Only early SS-VT used the black SS peaked cap with grey uniforms.

You are right my friend.
I have seen plenty of pics of SS-TV wearing the black cap with the pre-war erdbraun uniform. I also have a pic of Sepp Dietrich himself wearing a similar uniform in 1937.

Notice how the collar insignia, the shoulder boards, and even the cap insignia are the early ones.

Another example: Alfred Wünnenberg wearing closed collar 1936 uniform with post 1942 rank insignia and black visor hat.
