Instructions/Tips for tailor for getting uniform altered?

Hello!

What instructions tips should I tell my tailor for when I want to these parts of my uniform altered:
-M40 tuchhose trousers shortened, maybe waist size shortened
-M40 feldbluse waist shortened, maybe sleeves shortened
Like what should he avoid and do when altering these items, because they're similar to but not like conventional suits and trousers.
