Heer Drill & Training.

Post by war_dog2 » 15 Dec 2003 01:58

Hi all,

I have just started re-enacting, portraying the German Infantry Soldier pre 1943, I am keen to learn more about the Training a new recruit would have recieved. I have had a look for websites on the subject but have had no luck, if anyone has any info or could recomend any sites it would be a great help! :D

Also any advice that anyone could give to me as a new reenactor would be appreciated.

Thankyou All

I have an Infantry Training Manual, published in Berlin 1933. It is a small booklet written in the gothic script. It will take too long to scan, and may damage pages. However, if there is anything particular you need, let me know and I will see if I can copy it for you.

Mak,

A good page to view how equipment should be worn can be found on the 25th Panzergrenadier Division (reenacted) website. You can find it at http://www.25panzergrendiv.com

On the main page, look on the lefthand colum and pick out "Equipment." Click on the pictures and learn away.

Don't buy that book if you're searching for detailed info about uniforms, how to wear, combat training and so on. It's a good book, of course, but it doesnt cover that topics. It's most on organization and theoretical structure of units.

Mak
The infantry handbook does not show any pictures - pure theory.
